Valentine's Day

We had quite an interesting day today. We took Blake to school then we took Spencer to school and stayed for his Valentine Party. Both boys were super excited to take their Valentine's to school today. They gave parachute guys with a card on it that said "Dropping In to wish you a Happy Valentines" to their friends and then a package of Rolo's wrapped like a pencil to their teachers. After Spencer's party Luke and I headed to Blake's party where Luke choked on popcorn and proceeded to throw up EVERYWHERE! We made a quick exit from Blake's party and went and picked up Spencer. Then Brynlee and Carrie came over because Brynlee had cute Valentine's for the boys. She looked like a little Valentine Princess! :)

After naps we set the table with candles and had a yummy dinner. After dinner Blake said he wasn't feeling good and proceeded to throw up all over the bathroom floor. {He hasn't thrown up since, so I think it was from a lunch of Valentine's candy}.

Even though I had to clean up throw up twice today it was still a good day. I was able to spend the day with my 4 favorite guys.

Family Home Evening

We have started using our FHE Board for assignments this year. Blake had the lesson today and he really took time to prepare, it was really cute. He drew pictures for a matching game and then he drew this picture of baby Jesus, propped it up on a stool under the coffee table {to look like it's in a stable}, turned the lights off and propped a flashlight up so the light was on the ceiling {to represent the star}. He told us about when Jesus was born. I was very impressed and felt very proud. These kids know and are capable of so much more than we give them credit for.

Grandma's Visit

Mom came down to help me out a little bit while Dan was gone for the week. She was able to watch the boys while I went to YW and then watch Luke while I went to help at Blake's school. Dan's TDY came at a very inconvenient time, but Mom coming to help made it better! Carrie and Brynn came over and spent the day with us. We had fun making and decorating sugar cookies. Then today we took the boys to soccer and Grandma got to go with us which the boys loved. Thanks for coming down Mom, we loved having you.

Look at these cute cousins. My mom took Luke over to Carrie's today while I was helping in Blake's class and both Luke and Brynlee had their Mickey Disneyland shirts on! They look a little related, huh? One month from today is their birthday {just a year apart}!

Shiver Me Timbers

It was Pirate Day at Home Depot today. It is the first Saturday of the month so we were there for the kids workshop. After the kids built their craft today they had a treasure map for each kid and they got to go through the store finding their treasure. They all got a treasure bag, got to get a picture with a pirate on a ship, eat popcorn and get face painting {which was Luke's favorite part}. It was a great morning.

Spiderman by: Blake

Blake wrote a book during his rest time today. I was a little nervous that it was about killing but Carrie told me it was ok because he was talking about Spiderman killing bad guys, not him killing people! I typed the translations at the bottom of each page.

Spiderman lost his spider sense and then came Green Goblin. Spiderman came too. Spiderman kills the Green Goblin in one spider shot.

And then came Rhino. Oh no, I am Rhino. I am going to kill you. No you are not. Pow! Nice punch. Ya, kaboom. Spiderman kills the Rhino.

Oh my word! Not you again. Ok, I will beat you up. No you wont. Yes I will. Ok, time to beat me up. Ok, I will kill you up Sandman.

Saturday with Dad

We were so excited to have Dan home with us today {it's the first Saturday this year he hasn't worked}! So we met Paul and Gina and family at Peterson for the free movie/popcorn/soda to see Puss in Boots. The boys thought it was so fun to see a movie with their cousins. After the movie we went to a Science Fest. It was so croweded! But in the basement they had some Guiness Book record breaking experiments and it was way less croweded than upstairs. We let the boys try the experiments and called it good. They had to pick up jelly beans with a straw, pick up marbles with chopsticks and catapulting M&M's. Then after dinner and baths the boys had fun helping Dad work out by sitting on his back while he did push ups. They thought it was great fun. Saturdays are just a lot more fun when Dad is home!

I took the boys {and Dan} over to my friend Abigail's house to see their gingerbread house. I saw it when I was over at her house during the holidays and told the boys about it and they wanted to see it. You can see why I wanted them to see it. It's HUGE!!!

Home Depot

Grandpa wanted to see a picture of the boys Home Depot Shed Banks that the boys made and painted last week. We finally got them done and a picture!

Also, I wanted to remember Spencer's prayer tonight. He prayed that they wouldn't wear their Home Depot aprons only on Home Depot day, he prayed that we wouldn't eat leaves, he prayed that Luke wouldn't wear Blake's shoes and that Luke wouldn't press any buttons on the book during prayer. I was trying so hard not to laugh. :) I LOVE his prayers and how thoughful he is. I could learn a thing or two from him.

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Went to the Melting Pot for Dinner, went to San Antonio {Sea World, Alamo, etc.}, joined a book club, got released from Primary and started serving in YW, made our first trip to the ER.
2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I made a new years resolution to work out every day last January, and I did. Then I was able to keep up doing it 5 days a week. We also had a resolution to get Spencer potty trained and he is!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sister Carrie, My sister-in-laws Maggie and Becky, my cousins Brad, Tyler, Justin and Jeran {well, their wives gave birth} :)
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No
5. What countries did you visit?

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
More spiritual experiences.

March 26: Dan got home from SOS {it was a long 5 weeks without him}, July: Carrie and Jeff Moved here, August 2: Blake started Kindergarten and Spencer started Pre-School, September 12: Got to see Mark set apart as a missionary for our church.
8. What was your biggest personal achievement of the year?
Keeping my resolution to work out and hearing that my work at home with my boys is helping them in school.

I haven't been as outgoing since we moved here as I would like to have been.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
We all got a NASTY flu in February that lingered for like 3 weeks. I got so sick of washing puked on sheets while I was sick.

That music really touches me and helps me feel feelings that I don't feel any other way.

Lots of time with family. Being with our families for holidays has been wonderful.

I can't think of anything, I had a very fulfilling year.

I turned 28. Dan was gone in Alabama. My family came down the weekend before my birthday to spend time with me. On my birthday, my MIL brought over roses from Dan. I took Blake to school and when I got home there was yummy peanut butter fudge on my doorstep from my friend Abigail. I got phone calls all day from friends and family and that night my boys took me to my favorite restaurant {Red Robin} for dinner. It was very low key, but I'm glad I had my boys to celebrate with me.
29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Nothing.
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
I've really been enjoying hats this year. I've started getting quite the collection.
31. What kept you sane?
Dan, Prayer, and Me time. I realize more and more as the kids get older and schedules get crazier that I need to take time for ME. It helps me be a better wife and mom.

New Years Eve

Our New Years Eve had to be altered a little bit when Spencer woke up sick. We were all supposed to go to Carrie and Jeff's for a party and Dan would meet us there after work. But...Spencer was sick so Mom and Trav picked up Blake and Luke and took them to Carrie's. Then Dan picked up Luke on his way home from work and when he got home I went and joined Blake at the party. We ate dinner, played Minute to Win It games and counted down the new year {at 9:00 which is fine by me!}.

Santa Came and we all got spoiled! We ate quiche and fruit soup for breakfast. We went to church. It was a great morning. Later that night we were able to go to Nana and Papa's and talk to Uncle Mark on his mission in Mexico. We hope you all had a Christmas as wonderful as ours; surrounded with family and friends. We had a fun Christmas Eve up at my parent's house with my whole family. It was the first time that we were all spending the night together on Christmas Eve since Blake was like 1. We opened jammies, sang songs, played games and waited for Santa to come!Travis reading the boys a new book that my mom got from her friend. There are buttons on the side of the book and instead of the book making noise an ornament on the tree lights up and talks, the boys LOVED it!

So we went up to my parents for Christmas and we had a WHITE Christmas. They had well over a foot of snow so my boys {the 4 of them} decided to go sledding. Only problem was there was TOO much snow to sled, no problem...get the ATV! So they had a great time being pulled all over in the sled. Dan and Trav had fun pulling each other in the tube and trying to make the other one wipe out...hilarious!

Today is my Mom's birthday. The whole family {all 12 of us} met up in Denver for a late lunch at Olive Garden. We got up to Denver a little bit early so we were able to take the boys to the temple grounds which was nice. Lunch was great and I was shocked that all 12 our of schedules worked out to be together on Mom's actual birthday. After lunch our car headed to the airport to pick up Uncle Mike and then we all met at the Zoo for Zoo Lights. It was a little cold and it was really crowded but it was fun to all be together. It was such a fun day and I am glad were could celebrate with Mom!

Blake and Spencer both had their School Christmas Parties today. Luckily Dan was home so we spilt up and Dan went to Blake's party and Luke and I went to Spencer's. Our friends the Wolfs had a Gingerbread House Party today. It was so much fun. We were able to make gingerbread houses, play games, eat lunch and watch a Christmas movie. It was such a fun morning for the boys. Blake came after school got out so he didn't have to miss all the fun!

Evergreen Ward Christmas Party

The boys and I went up to my parents house this weekend. Dan was working the whole weekend and Mom was out of town so we went to spend some time with Grandpa and Uncle Travis. Today we went to Grandpa's cousin's {Gordon} birthday party in Denver, ran some errands and came home in time for their Ward Christmas Party. They had a dinner, 12 days of Christmas skit and a Nativity. The plus side to their ward having such a small primary is that my boys were able to participate also. They were able to be shepherds. After the closing prayer we sang Jingle Bells and Santa came. It was a fun party and always nice to be back in my home ward and see so many people who I love.

Getting So Big

Spencer has been having a little bit of a hard time with letters, sounds and writing/spelling his name. I've been really trying to work with him and this morning he surprised me by telling me how he spells his name and then writing his name all by himself. We are so proud of him and how hard he's working.{Look how proud he looks}

Ward Christmas Party

We had our ward Christmas Party this morning. I LOVED having it in the morning and eating breakfast food. There was a cute little program and the 3 wise men came and introduced the giving tree. It was a great morning {and another event completed from our advent calendar}.

Christmas Advent Calendar

We've been getting some Christmas presents and activities/events planned to make this December the best ever! :) Here is our activity advent calendar for the year. Every day we cut off the event from the bottom and Santa's beard gets shorter and shorter the closer we get to Christmas. Our event yesterday was to make Christmas cards for the missionaries and give them to them when they came over for dinner. Today the event was for the older boys to go with Dad to the movies (they saw Smurfs). We are excited for the rest of the events coming up.

Here is the stocking I made for Uncle Mark. We just mailed it off the other day, full of goodies. We're hoping it gets to him in Mexico before Christmas!

Black Friday

Thanksgiving

We had such a great Thanksgiving. My whole family was here {minus my sister and her family}, my in-laws, 2 aunts, one uncle and 4 cousins! We had a full house and a yummy dinner! Dan was working the night shifts over Thanksgiving week so he was up only to eat then had to leave again for work. After dinner and dessert we stayed up playing games. It was a great holiday.

Dad is saying I cooked the turkey, I am saying he cooked the turkey {he's the chef, he REALLY did it!}

Tonight for FHE we made Thankful Turkeys. The boys wrote on the feathers what they are thankful for. Blake is thankful for: markers, movies, Jesus, plates and cups, toys, light, colors, school, work, clothes, family, church and pens. Spencer is thankful for: napkins, family, scissors, m&m's, school, lunch, food, paper, balls, houses and colors. Luke did a hand print turkey but we didn't cut it out like the older boys, he colored around it. We're so grateful for so many things and are excited for Thanksgiving on Thursday!

Primary Program

Today was the primary program at church. Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Travis came down for it to see the boys. Blake and Spencer both said their parts so well and did pretty well with the singing. Blake looked bored the WHOLE program {which was quite entertaining to us} and Spencer sang his little heart on his two favorite songs "Praise to the Man" and "Stand for the Right."

I meant to get a picture of them in their suits but remembered after we were home and changed!

Young Women in Excellence

Young Women in Excellence was tonight. The theme was "Consult your Compass." So we had road signs, maps and compasses throughout the room. We had homemade soup and Texas Roadhouse salad and rolls. The girls talked about their goals. It was a wonderful night! {and I am glad it is over!}

Happy Halloween

We had a fun Halloween this year! After naps we carved pumpkins {it started with us all and ended with Blake and Dan} and Blake carved his all by himself. We were quite impressed! Then we ate dinner and went trick-or-treating at Aunt Carrie/Uncle Jeff's and Nana/Papa's houses. Then we came home and went around our neighborhood for like 30 minutes, that's all it took to FILL the boys' buckets. Then we came home dumped out all the candy on the floor...they got A LOT! Now on to the sugar high tomorrow! :)

Blake's School Halloween Party

We were all able to go to Blake's Halloween Party at school today {we have learned if we want Dad home for a holiday, he has to take leave, so that's what we did!}. He dressed up as a Knight because without Alvin and Theodore we didn't think people would know who he was if he went as Simon. It was a fun little party and he had fun having us there.

Air Force Hockey Game

We took the boys to the Air Force Hockey game tonight. They had a great time. They had never seen a hockey game before. Our section was right by where the players came on and off the ice to go to the locker room so the boys were able to line up where they come in and out and give them high fives. They thought that was pretty cool!

We went to our ward's trunk or treat tonight. We had chili, games and trunk or treating. The boys looked so cute as Alvin, Simon and Theodore! Little Luke caught on quite quickly to the trick or treating thing, holding his bucket up at every car! Searching for eyeballs in spaghetti.

Spencer's Halloween Party

Spencer had his Halloween Party at school today. He loved wearing his Alvin costume to school. I missed the first part of the party but he said he had a great time!

Blake had quite a fun birthday today! He opened his presents this morning before school and then got ready. I was able to take some treats into his class and then stay to volunteer until school was over. When we left we went to Spencer's pre-school Halloween party and had a fun time there. Dad and Luke met us at the party and we headed over to Pizza Hut for lunch. After lunch and naps we played Battleship {one of Blake's new toys} and he chose chicken croissants for dinner. After dinner Aunt Carrie, Uncle Jeff and Brynlee came over for cake. It was a fun day. Happy Birthday Blake! It was camo day at school on his birthday.

We raked the whole yard yesterday AND today! We filled 5 bags with fallen leaves. We have 2 HUGE trees in our backyard, one has yellow leaves and the other red...they are gorgeous! The boys had fun playing in the leaves and Blake was a really big help raking and filling the bags.

We had family over tonight for cake and ice cream for Blake and Spencer's birthdays. It was very low key with just family and it was fun to visit with everyone. Fun Weekend

Dan and I woke up way early to get the the 7:30 session at the temple this morning while the boys slept in at Grandma and Grandpa's house.After we got home we headed over to Travis' last soccer game of the season. He did really well!

After the soccer game we watched the BYU game, rode the ATV and had a yummy dinner. After dinner Dan, Luke and I headed home while the 2 older boys had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

Spencer's Birthday

Today was Spencer's 4th Birthday. We woke him up singing and giving him his presents. Then he chose Mickey Mouse Waffles for breakfast and we went to McDonald's for lunch. After naps he wanted to go on a bike ride {thank goodness it was good weather}. He chose mac and cheese with hot dogs for his dinner and I made basketball cookies for dessert. As soon as Dan got home from work we went up to my parents and had dessert with them and spent the night. Spencer had a great birthday and loves telling people that he is 4 now!

We took the boys to a pumpkin patch/farm this afternoon. They had so much fun riding horses, tractor ride, big slide, big trampoline, etc. It was a little chilly, but perfect fall weather.

Last Day of Vacation

Today we relaxed a little bit. We went to the cemetery with Janice this morning to see Grandma and Grandpa Hobbs' grave site. I hadn't seen the new headstone and it looked so nice. Blake remembered the cemetery from Grandma's funeral 2 years ago and had a lot of questions; it was a good experience. After the cemetery we went to a park to build a sand castle {that was the only reason they wanted to go to the beach so we thought we could find some sand closer by!}. After lunch and naps we went over to Gma and Gpa Gillis' house for a swim and to Red Robin for dinner. After dinner we went back to Janice's and Emily came over to visit for awhile.

Sunday/Family Dinner

This morning we went to church with Grandma and Grandpa and then went to Aunt Marlene's for a family dinner. It was fun to see all my California Hobbs family. Today we spent the day with Great Gma and Gpa Gillis. We went in Gpa's '56 T-Bird, went swimming, chatted and went out to dinner. Luke LOVED Gpa's car. He would Scream when the car pulled away and then was all grins as soon as he saw it come around the corner! The first picture is of him screaming! We also enjoyed swimming. It is so nice to have a pool all to yourself!

Disneyland: Day 3

Day 3 was a lot slower pace than the other 2 days; we were beat! We only went on 7 new rides, but we rode our favorites a few times. We were able to see 4 characters today also. My cousins Holly {and her family}, Erin and Dana met us at California Adventure tonight which was fun. Our last activity of the night was World of Color at California Adventure. The boys fell asleep on my lap before it started. We stayed for 5 minutes and called it good, we were too tired. So we headed back to Janice's after 3 FULL days at Disneyland!

Disneyland: Day 2

Day 2 was fun because Aunt Janice came with us for the day. We did Disneyland in the morning and then California Adventure the rest of the day. It was 99* today and since we were beat from yesterday we went home for lunch and naps in the middle of the day. It was a nice break! We went on 18 rides today and saw 4 characters! Blake went on his favorite ride today, Haunted Mansion!Peter Pan's Flight.

Disneyland: Day 1

We got a 3-day Park Hopper ticket and headed off to the Happiest Place on Earth! The first day we went on 20 rides and saw 5 characters. The boys loved having their autograph books to have the characters sign. My cousin Holly and her family met us there in the afternoon and it was fun to see them and go on some rides with them. They watched Luke for us while Dan and I took Spencer and Blake on Splash Mountain. We bought the picture because their faces were priceless! We enjoyed Splash Mountain because it was SO HOT! When we got home we checked the temperature, the high was 104*, in October! It was nuts! Here are the pictures from our first day! On our first ride; Finding Nemo Submarine.

We had a wonderful Conference Weekend. Thanks to Pinterest we had a really fun idea for the boys. Each Apostle and member of the First Presidency's picture was on an activity or goodie. When that man spoke, that's what they got to do. Spencer couldn't wait for Elder Bednar to speak {so he could eat candy corn} and Blake couldn't wait for Elder Perry to speak {so he could do a fun art project}. Blake didn't want to miss anything and was sitting quietly for almost the whole 8 hours. I think we will be doing this tradition for many years.

Adios Elder Coleman!

Can I just say one more time how much we love living close to family? We were able to go with Mark tonight as he got set apart as a full time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! He's the last Coleman, the baby, to go on a mission {until the next generation starts}. We're so proud of Mark and the wonderful example he is being to our boys. I am grateful they have such good Uncles to look up to.

First Day of Nursery

I can't believe he's 18 months and Nursery Legal! The nursery is right next door to the Primary room so I was able to hear him SCREAMING the first 40 minutes, but then he calmed down! Hopefully next week is better! :)Luke had his 18 month check up on Friday and he was 21.4 lbs. and 31 inches.

Patriot's Day Celebration

Olympic Training Center

After Breakfast at Rudy's we took Janice to the Olympic Training Center for a tour. Our tour guide competed in Athens and Beijing and won a gold medal in Paralympic swimming. He is training for London in 2012! After the tour we got to see a Boxing Competition as well. It was a fun morning, we just wish Dan didn't have to work through it! :(

Balloon Ascension

We woke up early {again} to go to the balloons this morning. This time there was no wind and we were able to see the balloons go up and skim the lake. The boys LOVED it. Afterwards Aunt Janice treated us all to Rudy's Breakfast Tacos.

After the BBQ we headed over to the Balloon Glo. There was some wind so not all the balloons got up {and you can see in the pictures that the balloons are leaning because of the wind} but my boys LOVED seeing them glo. It was a fun night spent with family and friends!

My family has been going to the balloon festival in Colorado Springs for like 15 years. We would come down and stay in a hotel and eat out. Well, now that we live here we were able to have friends and family from out of town stay with us and have a HUGE BBQ before we left for the Balloons. We counted 43 people at our house for a late lunch/early dinner today and it was so fun. We had family from Greeley, Evergreen, Arvada and San Diego come {plus all the family in town}. We had the BYU game on {GO COUGS!} and just enjoyed being together!

The boys and I went mini golfing today since there was no school. Aunt Carrie and Brynlee were going to come with us but little Brynn wasn't feeling so good so they stayed home. Luke had a ball and would roll it down the green and put it in the hole then clap so proud of himself, it was so cute. And both Blake and Spencer got legit holes in one. Spencer got one and Blake got 3! We decided we need to go again when Dad can go with us!
